Overview of Adolescent Girls’ Knowledge About Reproductive Health at
Kristen Junior High School, Palangka Raya
ABSTRACT
Introduction: Reproductive health is an important aspect that must be understood
from adolescence, particularly among adolescent girls who experience physical,
psychological, and social changes. A lack of knowledge regarding reproductive
health can lead to various risks such as unintended pregnancy, sexually
transmitted infections, and psychosocial problems. This study aims to describe the
level of knowledge of adolescent girls about reproductive health at Kristen Junior
High School, Palangka Raya.
Method: This research employed a quantitative descriptive design with a survey
approach. The sample consisted of all adolescent girls at Kristen Junior High
School, Palangka Raya, totaling 30 respondents, selected through a total sampling
technique. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire that had been
tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was carried out descriptively using
frequency and percentage distributions.
Results: The majority of respondents were 13 years old (36.7%), with most of them
being in grade IX (36.7%). The level of knowledge about reproductive health
showed that 26 respondents (86.7%) had good knowledge, 3 respondents (10.0%)
had moderate knowledge, and only 1 respondent (3.3%) had poor knowledge.
Conclusion: Most adolescent girls at Kristen Junior High School, Palangka Raya,
have a good level of knowledge about reproductive health. This finding highlights
the importance of continuous reproductive health education through schools,
families, and health professionals to maintain and further improve adolescents’
understanding.
