Overview of Healthcare Worker Support for Exclusive Breastfeeding in the Panarung Community Health Center Work Area, Palangka Raya, in 2025

ABSTRACT
Background: Exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of a baby's life is an important effort to improve the health status of both mother and baby. Breast milk contains complete nutrition needed by babies for growth and development, and strengthens their immune systems, thereby reducing the risk of infection and disease. Furthermore, exclusive breastfeeding also plays a role in strengthening the emotional bond between mother and baby and contributes to maternal health after delivery.
Objective: To determine the level of support from healthcare workers for exclusive breastfeeding in the Panarung Community Health Center, Palangka Raya. Method: This study used a quantitative descriptive method with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 24 respondents selected using purposive sampling, with the criteria being mothers with infants aged 6–12 months. Data collection was conducted using a questionnaire covering four aspects of family support: emotional, instrumental, informational, and appraisal support. Data were analyzed univariately and presented in frequency distribution tables and percentages. Results: The study showed that the majority of healthcare workers provided good support for exclusive breastfeeding. Emotional, instrumental, informational, and appraisal support each showed a level of support of 85%, while 15% showed no support. Overall, healthcare workers' support for exclusive breastfeeding was categorized as good (78%). Conclusion: The majority of healthcare workers in the Panarung Community Health Center, Palangka Raya, have good support for exclusive breastfeeding. Healthcare worker support plays a crucial role in the success of breastfeeding.
